Functions Summary: Getting To Know The Interface

Before getting started, it's a good idea to become familiar with some of the functions of Caricature Studio 4.0 and how to access them. Many of the program functions can be accessed from the icon toolbar, as well as the menu toolbar. Below is a list of icons found on the main toolbars and on the "Caricaturize" menu, followed by an explanation of the toolbar menu options.

File Menu

File >

Open: Open the main image.

Print:  Print the image.

Save: Save image. Warning: overwrites original image! Use Save As (below) to save as a new file.

Save As: Save image with a different file name or as a different file type.

Load Filter Plugins: Load Adobe Photoshop ® compatible filters.

Exit: Exit the program.

Edit >

Undo: Undo the last action.

Restore: Restore original image. Any caricature effects or filters will be lost.

Image Size: Adjust the main image size.

Rotate Canvas: Rotate the main image. Does not effect clipart images.

Caricature >

Putty: Drag areas of the image.

Warp:  Pinch in or expand out areas of the image.

Twirl:  Twists the selected area of the image.

Comic Filter: Applies the Comic Filter to image

View >

Original: Original image size.

Zoom In: Zoom in for a larger preview.

Zoom Out: Zoom out to reduce preview. Helpful if original image is larger than the work area.

Fit To Window: Fit image within program window.

Insert >

Image: Insert images from the Clipart directory, or add your own images.

Talk Bubble: Insert a talk or thought bubble onto the image. Add text to create a "comic strip" look.

Text: Insert text anywhere on the image. You may choose font, size and color.

Filters >

The Filters menu contains a variety of effects and enhancements that can be applied to your image.

Tools >

Caricature Animator: Tool for creating simple animated images. For full instructions, open the Help file within the Caricature Animator program window.

Chromakey: Calls the chromakey tool.

Change Background: Changes the background behind a keyed image.

Help >

Caricature Studio Help: Launches this Help file.

Video Tutorial: Opens web-based video tutorial section.

About: Displays the information screen that opens with the program.

Register:  Dialogue box to input registration information in order to unlock all program features.
