Head On Body

Caricature Studio 4.0 includes over 35 novelty templates for creating hilarious "head-on-body" caricatures. There are templates for many special occassions including birthdays, graduation, sports, parody movie posters and more! Templates are located in:

There are different methods to acheive the head-on-body effect, but all start with creating a transparent head image. You can accomplish this by erasing around the head and saving the image as a transparent image (see Creating Transparent Images) and inserting it as clipart on top of the template, or you can use the Chromakey function to create the transparency. In our example here, we'll use the Chromakey function.

Creating Head On Body Caricatures

1. First, we'll choose our a subject.

2.   Next, we'll choose the Paintbrush tool and begin carefully coloring around the perimeter of the head. Remember that the chromakey function "keys" out a selected color and makes it transparent, so we'll use green to mimic an actual green screen photo. To get a clean edge, zoom in and use a small brush tip around the head. Then, use a bigger brush tip to continue coloring in the photo.

3. Use the Crop tool to select an area slightly bigger than the perimeter of the head.

4.   Select the Chromakey icon. You will be prompted to select the color you wish to key out.

In this example, we'll click on the green area because we want to create transparency, leaving only the head.

2.  On the next dialog window, choose Insert Background Image. Click Browse and navigate to the novelty templates folder located here: Program Files/Caricature Studio 4.0/Clipart/Novelty Templates. Choose a template.

3. Click OK to insert the head image.

That's it! You can resize the head, apply caricature effects, add talk bubbles, add a border and more!

 To change the background, use the Change Background icon and select another novelty template.

  Many of the templates use the Comic Filter. You can apply the filter to your head image, if desired. Templates are designed to print out 8" x 10" photos, and make a delightful last-minute surprise for family and friends.
